Ang Dating Daan: On Top at 29
by: Cecile Vizcaya

Yes. History duplicates itself, though sometimes recurrences are better than their first.

When the program Ang Dating Daan celebrated silver in 2005, with a whopping 25,000 attendees at the Araneta Coliseum, who knew it would turn out bigger and better after 4 years.

Not only was Southeast Asia’s biggest dome filled to the brim — satellite locations that circled the globe were swollen with people who celebrated ADD’s 29 triumphant years of religious exposition.

To think that the program started with a full three-man-production team in the ‘80s, ADD’s growth to a worldwide phenomenon is a brew of the desire to preach God’s words, the faith to pursue, and Divine trust, above all.

Some detractors’ remark that MCGI is a “Church fit only for greater Pampanga,” is a lie. Through ADD, Members Church of God International has stepped into international territory.

This broadcast achievement cannot be ignored. As far as the program is concerned, it is the only one which has been unjustly banned several times but has hugely progressed despite attempts to stamp it out of television. Because of ADD’s fearless and radical exposés of fraud in the religious arena, not a few souls were added to the MCGI congregation, but thousands. That’s progress, alright.

The Web Age even catalyzed the program’s mission to spread the truth and goodwill elsewhere in the world.

ADD has overridden the risks of survival any television program could not possibly endure –suspensions, including its hosts, and eviction from networks which previously hosted it. But the efforts to malign the program and sway its loyal audience to disbelief only show the promise of Ang Dating Daan. It only reveals Bro. Eli Soriano as a fearless and no nonsense man who knows the what-for’s and how-to’s of a clean Bible talk – a substance not found in other preachers.

For 29 years, ADD has proven that it is the only religious program which is very liberal and open in exploring the Bible. It is possibly the friendliest show to even welcome those who dare question the foundation on which it rests. This may be claimed by other religious programs, but it takes a spontaneous and continuous trial to prove credibility before people who desire satisfaction in an instant. To prove and to be proven is the name of the game.

At the peak of everything, Ang Dating Daan remains steady in its spiritual campaign in the East and the West. Its success is truly a God-inspired.
